  • Fur Material renders black when using RTX and CUDA, but works with CPU

    Hello,

I am having an issue with rendering fur (as grass). For some reason, it renders black when I apply a material to it and using RTX or CUDA. But when I use the CPU, it renders just fine. Is there a reason for that? Attaching two images, one with RTX and one with CPU rendering.

    Hi ous_abouras

What material did you use to shade the grass here?
    What DCC and V-Ray version?
If it is using the old translucency, it will render black. You need V-Ray 5 update 2 for this to work, and you will go manually and swap translucency to the new SSS models

I used the normal Grass materials, which I don't believe is translucent. I even tried a making regular generic material, and changed it to green and it was not working. I also am using the VRay 5.20.02 update for that. What did you mean by DCC tho?

Hey ous_abouras and sorry for the late reply
DCC is your host DCC like SketchUp or 3Ds Max. Please use the contact form to submit this scene, I will take a look at your setup
