  • V-ray for SketchUP: Cannot choose auto exposure in progressive mode anymore

    Hi there,

After I installed the latest patch, I find that I can't select the auto exposure option anymore in the progressive mode. I am not sure what happened, but the log tap keeps popping out saying "Warning: SettingsRTEngine::gpu_light_cache is deprecated. Light cache is always calculated on the GPU when V-Ray GPU is used for rendering" and "Warning: Auto exposure and auto white balance require light cache in single frame mode." But the thing is, I didn't change anything with my GPU, and I went to check the forum where people say that there is an option enabling or disabling GPU Light Cache, which I find nowhere in my v-ray setting.

My system is Windows 10 and the GPU is Nvdia Quadro RTX4000
and I can choose the auto exposure in v-ray for Rhino, so this might be SketchUP's bug?

    What should I do now?:d

    Hi,

the only thing you need to do(that I am aware of) in order for the Auto exposure to work is to enable the Light Cache as a Secondary Rays option.

If this is not the case for you, could you please send more information so I can try to resolve this?
    - Full number version of V-Ray or even better a screenshot of the About V-Ray window.
    - Example project - I assume that this is happening with specific projects and not all(or newly created ones). If this is the case please send one example, just please use the Pack Project tool(Extensions > V-Ray > Pack Project) so we can get all external files associated with the project(bitmaps, proxies, etc).
If the file ends up being too large or it is not for public review you can submit it in the "Request" link below(please include the forum link in the request).
One more thing that will also help is the full log(the one from your screenshot above). You can copy-paste it from the Messages window and save it in a .txt file and include it in the review files.

    The link : https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Regarding the GPU Light Cache message, this is the new default way for calculating LC. The reason is that the GPU will calculate it faster.

      Hi!

I did find the option under Global Illumination / Secondary Rays! Thank you so much!
