  • GPU rendering with tiles material taking very long time "loading bitmaps"

    Hello.
I've using latest V-Ray with SketchUp Pro 2021 and using tiles material makes GPU rendering very slow - it goes on "loading bitmaps" for a minute for this simple scene: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Qpq...ew?usp=sharing

Thats very strange. I've got problems on my old GTX 1660 Ti PC (Windows 10) and on new GTX 3070 laptop (Windows 11).
And I just download file myself (to verify that nothing was lost durgin packing) and still got the issue.
Are you sure you've rendered on GPU and not on CPU? I've attached by main settings.

Thanks. I've just checked the version from your signature and I've got excactly the same latest SketchUp and V-Ray versions.
Well, I guess I need to write some kind of bug report for V-Ray team to investiage then.

            Hey Michael,

this is probably an exporter issue. I will ping my SketchUp colleagues on this

I've contacted Chaos Group support and got this riddle solved.

My project was on Google Drive (streaming mode) and strangely even with offline mode enabled for this folder it was interfering with rendering process. I didn't spot the issue right away because apparent bug in pack tool - the path to the texure was left local (not relative) in the packed project. So even if I downloaded my own zip I was still trying to render with texture on my Google Drive.

After remaping texture to local one I've got no problem.

Well, apparently - it didn't help with my real project (this one was a minimum sample)... Still go issue there even tho I've remaped all textures. I'll try to find what's wrong with it.

Ok, now I solved it. Google Drive has nothing to do with it I think - it's all because I have cyrillic letters in my file path to textures
It seems it works fine on Google Drive (streaming mode with offline enabled for a given directory) even with cyrillic letters in path to the project, but if you have cyrillic letters in the path to texture - it starts to load textures for a minute.

                    Thanks for the update Michael
And yeah the type of letters in paths is usually not a good idea, I'm glad you find a solution
