  • Error while rendering

    While rendering with GPU I constantly get the following errors:

    Error : [OOCRenderThread::syncStream] 700: Stream sync failed
    [MemoryManagerGpu::releaseUnmappedMemoryFromInstanc e] 700: Could not release device buffer

    This happens pretty much every 5 Minutes and Vray isn't responding anymore. Updated the driver for my GPU but didn't help. Running the latest Vray GPU Version with one RTX 3090 and one 2080Ti.

    Does anyone have an idea why this happens and how to fix it?

    Hi alexander_jntsch and welcome to the forum,

    Does this happen with all scenes?
    You could monitor the VRAM usage to see if this is related or not, use GPUZ of MSI AfterBurner for that
    Are you using both GPUs for rendering?

      Yes, this happens with all scenes now in CUDA and RTX mode. It doesn't matter if I use just one card (2080TI or 3090) or both at the same time. VRAM was my first guess as well, then started using only the 3090 but this shouldn't be the problem with 24GB because I rendered much larger scenes without any problems before.
      The rendering always works until a specific numer of passes, then stops rendering new passes while the rendering pass that makes it stop is random every time I launch 3ds max again. Most of the time this happens when turning multiple lights in the Vray Light Lister on and off or unhiding geometry or even just moving one light.

        Hi Alexander,

        Error 700 could be caused by many things including Hardware issues, we need to be able to reproduce this behavior on our side to help you
        Please upload a simple scene with your steps or a video recording of getting the crash. FYI, it is not normal to get this instability in 3Ds Max with stable builds, the current stable builds are very reliable. I'm able to use the IPR for long sessions (+6 hours) without a crash on my end.
        We can also setup a remote session to take a look at your scenes/hardware.
        I also recommend stress testing your GPUs, to make sure they work as expected, use something like Unigine Heaven for that
