Configure SLI not visible

Hello,

Maybe there is a thread already about this topic ….

I recently purchase a new workstation with two G-force RTX 3090 for GPU rendering.

I also purchased the compatible NVlink (delivered after a few months cause of shortage) in order to combine the memory for big scenes however, I’m having trouble enabling it.

There is no “configure SLI” option in the Nvidia control panel!

I’m currently using windows 11 and the latest driver 516.40.

I have been told by the workstation provider that I need to downgrade the system to windows 10 and use the old driver version 419.67.

Does anyone have this kind of configuration with NVlink?

We had some trouble with NVLINK with one of our station.
Maybe our experience may help you (or maybe not)

First, a disclaimer, I am not an engineer / computer technician, everything I say can be questioned.

We had ordered from our suppliers two differents workstations with two 3090's under Nvlink.


First,
They advised us to run Windows 10, which we did, but I don't know if Windows 11 would be a problem for NVLINK.
After some call with the techs they've assured us that there is no specific manipulation to activate the NVLINK, if it can work, it will activate at reboot following the plug of the NVLINK in hardware.


Second,
We had a problem on one of the two computers where the NLINK was not activated.
The problem came from the motherboard which had to be changed by the computer service provider.

One of the two computers was with an ASUS motherboard and a THREADRIPPER processor (no problem)
The other computer was with an ASROCK motherboard and an ASUS EPYC processor. And there, the SLI did not work. This was due to the fact that the motherboard/processor combination was a server combo. The server motherboard refused to "read" the SLI.
We had to switch the second configuration to an ASUS motherboard + THREADRIPPER for the SLI to work.

Again, I don't know if your problem is similar, but you never know, it may help.

Hello Nicolas,

thank you for your feedback, yes the problem is the motherboard also in my case, apparently, the ProArt B550-CREATOR is not SLI compatible; sending back the workstation to have the motherboard replaced.

Yeah, sadly the entire ProArt lineup of Motherboards don't support SLI, this includes many boards Z690, B550 and X570
It is sad, because these boards are really good with many features towards artists like multiple Thunderbolt/Type C connectors
