  • I can't get motion blur to work with fluids simulation

I have a fluid simulation where I have water running from a faucet. I have enabled motion blur in my camera, but Vray GPU doesn't render the water sim with motion blur. Why is that? If I switch to the CPU engine, the water sim does have motion blur. I'm using Max'es built-in water simulation tool.

Also, when I render with the CPU engine, I can't decrease the motion blur effect strength with the "Shutter speed" parameter in the camera. As soon as I set a value larger than 30 for shutter speed, the motion blur effect is completely gone. See below.

      I don't think it's supported.
And oddly, when I just tried it worked with cpu, so I checked gpu and it did not, so switched back to cpu and it no longer works, so that's amusing...or not

It's not supported, I'm afraid. There is also a known issue with Max Liquids and motion blur with CPU, which we've logged. However, I'm not sure when it will be fixed.

          Hey Alex_M

How important is this to you now? do you use Max liquids often ?

I have very rarely needed to do liquids simulations. I guess I'll have fake the motion blur in Affinity Photo.
