  • Motion Blur makes texture disappear.

When I switch on motion blur in the physical camera in Maya, V-ray doesn't now render my texture. Any knowledge of a fix? V-Ray 5 GPU for Maya, update 2.2

Its a SUPER basic scene, basically a cylinder with a texture applied to a V-RayMTL. I'm shocked that this doesn't work. Also, will users of V-Ray 5 see any updates for the texture problems that we're getting with GPU or has it now been shelved, meaning we have to update to 6 at a huge cost (have they been fixed in that?)?

Are we talking about the motion blur option in the V-Ray physical camera attribute?

Which issues are you referring to, so I can check?

      Thank you for the reply.

Yeah, its the motion blur option in the Physical Camera that is making the texture instantly disappear.

This thread outlines the issues I've had with GPU on a few different projects now: https://forums.chaos.com/forum/v-ray...pting-textures

Mainly, GPU not handling multiple UV sets and motion blur correctly.

Could you simplify the scene and attach it here? It does not seem to happen on a fresh scene.

Regarding the other issues, I've notified the project manager about them so as to make an attempt for prioritization.

Sure, a simplified version of the scene can be downloaded here: https://we.tl/t-7whEcZvj2T

Thank you very much for notifying the project manager too, much appreciated.

Thanks for the provided scene. It seems the Viewport subdivision (Render settings > Overrides > Geometry) does not work correctly in GPU when motion blur is active. I've logged the issue (internal bug-tracker id: VGPU-5982) for developer investigation. Disabling the Viewport Subdivision (or the smooth preview of an object) should yield correct results.

I see, thank you for logging the issue, hopefully the devs can provide a fix and update soon.

I've just tested it, and I'm afraid the texture in my example scene still disappears when Enable Motion Blur is enabled in the Physical Camera properties, or via Render Settings > Overrides > Camera > Motion Blur in V-Ray 5 for Maya, update 2.3 v5.20.03, revision 31730 from Nov 10 2022.

Sorry about that, I can confirm it still present, the fix is still tested by QAs. I will message again soon with a build you can test

                      Best,
                      Muhammed
