GPU Distributed Rendering Maya

Hello Guys,

our Team wanted to switch over to CUDA Distributed Rendering, however we have trouble setting it up.
We have one render server using a RTX 3080 and it uses only the GPU (which is exactly what we want), in another server we have a Threadripper 2990WX-32 Core and a GTX 1060. Here we only want to use CPU and we used the "select GPU" - tool in the Start Menu to select CPU only.
But even after multiple Restarts of the server and re-installs of the Vray software, we cannot get it to working correclty. It always uses GPU only and never CPU.
We often read that there should be a "Vray GPU Render Server" in the Start Menu, but it is never installed with V-Ray 6....

Hello,

I'm not able to reproduce this issue on my end, I tried again this morning DR rendering works fine with Cuda CPU devices



I used the standalone device selector to set CPU as a rendering device on my server, in this case a 3970X Threadripper 32-core
Then launched V-Ray Render Server from start menu, I'm using the latest stable nightly for Maya



Then used DR rendering checkbox from the Maya settings, this works for me every time

If you cannot find the V-Ray Render Server in start menu, you can start V-Ray standalone in commend line with this flag -server

If you still have issues with this we can setup a remote session and take a look at your setup, let me know
