GPU Vray for Rhino - RTX

    Hey Joe,

    With two of your testing result, it is not related with the Bottleneck.

    And with the BSOD error, feels like it is a GPU issues; better to have a testing for your GPU and see if you need send it for RMA. (You can use Heaven benchmark or Furmark to run about 30 minutes for testing.)

      Hello,

      I've ran Heaven and received these 2 benchmark results. The second was ran with the 8x anti-aliasing.

      Would these results suggest a bad GPU? There wasn't any crashing involved.

          Hey Joe,

          I assume there is no BSOD during above testing, then I guess your GPU is good.

          But still, the warning about "hardware accelerated GPU scheduling" in your log, did you enable it?

          From the other hand, when you get the V-ray Score 30 or 1, there must be something show up in the Windows Event log, did you check the logs?

            Hey,

            Yeh there was no BSOD

            Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling was enabled since the beginning, which is strange if there's a warning about it in the log

            I've attached the log from where I had the score of 30. Note that this test was done before I went back to the suggested Nvidia driver 512.59 and back to the current driver.

            The GPU is working fine with every other software apart from VRay...rather irritating!

              Add on...I have tried rendering another project on Blender and the GPU is performing as it should be.

              Would uninstalling and reinstalling to default settings help you think?

                Hey Joe,

                Feels like your PC is normal. the 1 and 30 score issues you met might be just an individual case, which might cause by settings. (Not only V-ray settings but also WIN 11 settings too)

                I think you can do a reinstall of V-ray first, if it is not helping, then consider using Win 10. (Or put your 3070 to another Win 10 machine to have some test.)

                  And for the bottleneck i mentioned previously.

                  It will not show up when you are using only CPU or GPU, but when you are using both of them at same time.

                  This will mostly happen while you do CPU+GPU rendering or while you play heavy games with high quality settings. (It will be like the CPU load at 100% but the GPU load at 50% to 80%)

                    Reinstall of Windows and V-Ray are good advice at this point of time

                      Hello,

                      Apologies for the delayed response.

                      I managed to get the interactve renderer working to a certain degree but it meant removing mesh objects from the scene which isn't ideal when changing materials etc.

                      Another issue I've come across recently is Rhino crashing itself when I set off an interactive renderer.

                      A team viewer would be a great solution at this point although I may need some direction as I haven't used it before
