  • Vray GPU render crashs and freeze... Drivers optimizations with RTX 4090 ?

    Hi everyone

My Vray GPU renderer crashes and lags all the time (no matter what the scene is, and no problem with CPU Render)
After doing some tests on VRay Benchmark, here is what it shows... (cf PJ)
(NB : Vray benchmark advises, via a popup, to install the most recent drivers for NVidia)

    ...

Does anyone have an explanation, please?

I tested my rtx 4090 with 3D mark, Valley Benchmark, cinebench and furmark... No problem (I can send you the results, if needed)
With Cycle of blender, the unreal engine... No problem (NB : these are free engines)
With Twinmotion, D5 render, Arnold... No problem.

    ...

I can't imagine that a paid renderer, as well known as VRay, is not optimized in time with the latest generation of NVidia graphics cards.
So I must have misunderstood something.

    ... But what ?

    Have a nice day

    Hi christophe_corbier

I'm sorry to hear about your experience
Your first screenshot shows a bad RTX score for the RTX 4090, your third screenshot shows a good score

Here is what I get on my 4090 attached below

We need to take a look at your setup to see why you get this reduced performance, would you be interested in having a look at your setup with Team Viewer?
Let me know please so I can schedule a time

About the lags/crashes that is not the case on my end, my 4090 works just fine. We will take a look at your setup to find the issue

    Best,
    Muhammed

      Hi Muhammed_Hamed

Thank you very much for your assistance.
Sorry for the delay in my reply.

I'm busy with work these days, but I'll be happy to do it in a little while.

What I have understand at the moment :
      - the GPU can only give me small scenes (Faster, but less qualitative than the CPU).
      - Every time I ask him for a rendition of a bigger scene, it systematically crashes 3DS max.
      - Using CUDA to mix CPU and GPU doesn't change the game: it still crashes.

      Best,
      Christophe
