Every once in a while, I pop back into GPU rendering. It is slow on even the most basic scenes without materials. I have tried RTX and CUDA but it does not make a difference. I have a second 4090 going in today, but I feel I am wasting my time and money.

Hey Bobby,
You shouldn't use Low Priority thread for your hardware, this option is only meant to be used for mid/low end GPUs that struggle to keep up with rendering + viewport and UI. After that, use 4000 LC Subdivs for your scene, the reason for changing this value is that your scene relies mostly on indirect lighting for illumination, in addition you are rendering in 4k resolution(higher resolutions need high LC Subdivs)
Also make sure you disable your Render Elements until you do your final frame rendering
One advice is to use GPU-Z in the background, pay attention to your Board Power Draw. For an RTX 4090 you need to see around 250-300 Watts, if it is any lower this means that your GPU is not working at its full capacity
I will write a support article about GPU usage, I think it will be helpful
Best,
Muhammed

My board Power Draw is (highest) 204W. What do I need to do?
Would this be a more suitable power supply - https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/psu/...-cp-9020070-na

It has jumped to 260W but only uses 40% of the GPU load. <EDIT> It looks to be jumping to 99% at times. However, the board Power Draw isn't going over 300W.Last edited by glorybound; 10-06-2024, 11:30 AM.Bobby Parker

See what Power draw you get on both cards
