  • RTX render won't start sometimes

Is this a known issue? Max 2023, latest vray 6.20.06, and 4090 card. I just close MAX, start it again and it's ok. nvidia driver 551.23
Guessing a vray update plus recommended driver will fix it?

Also when I close I see MAX still running in task manager so I end task it.

    Hi, thanks for posting.
Guessing a vray update plus recommended driver will fix it?
Start with this step please and share the result.
What do you mean it won't start? Do you get any errors or warnings in the V-Ray log? Are you able to render the scene using CUDA?
Is this happening in every scene, even a new simple scene? Are you sure you have enough video memory?

I mean buckets just sit in starting positions and don't move. After restart everything works fine so yes, enough memory. I have the driver recommended for my version of vray so not sure if I should update it before vray update comes out. Or is it out? Haven't seem the update window in VFB.

This is the latest released version. Is this happening in every scene? It could be a object or material or anything else in the scene that triggers the freeze. Are you able to render using progressive image sampler?
If you are opening older scenes that were built with older version of V-Ray please reset the render settings to default.
If you have this issue in a specific scene please send it for review. You can do that here or through the support contact form.

Yeah, it can occur in many different scenes. Not sure if it is related to a certain material/object. But it happens randomly. Usually if I had many test renders and had MAX opened for hours. Will try updating and see if it persists.

If this happens, could you please check the log for this warning:
            Code:
Num Samples Per Threads reduced to XXXX, rendering might be slower
Are you able to stop the render if the buckets are stuck?
