  • Normal Map Not Rendering on Curved Surfaces

    Hi,

I'm experiencing something new, a piece of geometry is unwrapped so that the maps follow the curve however, the diffuse map works but the Normal map stops at the threshold of the curve.

Does anyone know why? Maybe it's something to do with the surface falling away from the camera but, to stop abruptly is odd.

It's a normal map connected to a VRayNormal Map node and placed in the Bump slot of a V-Ray Material.

    Thanks, N

Hi, thanks for posting. What are your V-Ray and 3ds Max versions (assuming you use 3ds Max if not please specify). It is a bit hard to tell without a scene. Please send your scene for review here or through the support contact form.

Hi, after reviewing your scene the issue is reported to the developers under VGPU-6616. As a workaround please add edges to your kitchen top in your scene so that you avoid having such narrow and long polygons (like the ones where the chamfer is applied).
