  • V-Ray 7 - Region renders start rendering from scratch when no changes are made

    Hi,

I've just noticed that when I draw regions over portions of the image that were already rendered, V-Ray 7 GPU starts rendering from scratch even though I've not changed anything in the scene. In V-Ray 6, V-Ray would continue iteratively refining the image, but not start from scratch, if no changes were made to the scene. Is this a bug or intended behaviour with V-Ray 7 GPU?

This was already mentioned in the beta forums here. It is expected and happens in CPU too. As for polygon regions, LC is recomputed for all polygons in the region (it acts as one region).

V-Ray 6 works in a similar fashion. Changing this behavior is not as trivial, but we are thinking about it.

I see. Thanks for the explanation. I haven't used the GPU engine in V-Ray 6 for a long time so I might be remembering wrong.
