  • V-Ray Could not initialize the GPU for rendering

    Hi,

I have these errors showing up when I'm trying to render with my GPUs:

AMError[V-Ray] Could not initialize the GPU for rendering!
AMError[V-Ray] [GPU light cache] Error during GPU initialization!

    My setup is a Dell XPS15 9570, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H, 16 RAM, internal GPU GTX 1050 Ti and external GPU RTX 2060.

When I render with a CPU everything is working, but it's not as fast as using CUDA or RTX. But when I use those I get the errors above. I have tried setting up the V-Ray GPU Bit Depth settings to lower (8bit) but, it hasn't helped. I tried using only the 2060 and both 1050 and 2060, no change.

I have updated the Nvidia drivers to the version the Vray is okay with - 561.09. When I updated to the most recent drivers (566.14) Vray was also showing error, that the driver is too recent.

Have anyone come across a similar problem? What can change to render with GPUs?

    Thank you!

Hi brk_obrk and welcome to the forums!

Are you able to run the V-Ray benchmark on your machine?
Please try with your external GPU the 2060, avoid using the 1050ti which doesn't have enough GPU memory

    Best,
    Muhammed
