  • Water (ocean) material waves

Any ideas why would that material render differently on GPU? On CPU I get nice big waves. I'm using the material from Cosmos. Tried turning off UVW randomizer map, and changing the "real world" to normal tiling.

What's the material called in Chaos Cosmos?

Sorry, it's from vray material browser, not Cosmos. It's Waves_A_02_200cm

I'm getting identical results when using the shader out of the box. Mind if you attach your scene?

Thanks for the provided scene. It seems in V-Ray GPU, the strength of the Bump is dependent on the texture tiling (note that Bump works a bit differently on V-Ray GPU, hence results will never be the same). I'll log an issue for this, since it does seem odd to work like this. To workaround it, you must increase the Render Multiplier of the texture (a value of 50 seems to yield similar to the CPU results).

Another thing: the same shader (Waves A 02 200cm) in the latest Chaos Cosmos has a different structure (it uses a Normal map instead of a bump). You can give it a try and see if the results are better.

FYI: Logged the issue (internal bug-tracker id: VGPU-6692).
