When did you download the demo? There was a short while yesterday when the demo builds were broken, but we fixed that.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Its just stays black vlado...... I have it all working now though, I have a full 64-bit version of max and vray and vray RT on my main machine and to solve the backburner issues on rendering which was why I was using that setup I will send my renders to backburner as a 32 bit render which is is the advanced options....

Okay, it works! I unregistered the service. So apparently I didn't have the appropriate permissions running with the service?

I will start working with the service some more to see if I can get that figured out properly. Again, Vlado, thanks for the help. I can't say it enough about how much you really help this community. Much appreciated! THANKS!

Did you register the RT render server to run as a service? If yes, make sure that service runs with your normal user login. Another solution is to un-register the service (from the Start menu > Programs > Chaos Group > V-Ray RT for 3ds Max > Unregister....)

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Auto-start local server = Checked On
I do NOT see the VRay RT Render server window
I see the vray.exe process running in task manager

When I start the VRay RT Render server from the start menu in windows, I get the following error.

Error: Failed to start network server: Failed to open listening port (10048 ) Exiting server mode.

I have just tried it on my 32-bit machine and it works fine.

However on a 64 bit machine, which I have max 32-bit and vray 32-bit it doesn't work.

I have 32-bit installed as it needs to match my other 32-bit machines so I can use backburner...

I am having the same prooblem, everything is correct as per previous threads, bit in the active shade floater window it won't get past waiting for image data...

Last entry in V-RAY RT render server: Memory Usage:16.18mb

There are no error anywhere and the vray exe is running too!

How long should it usually take, tried with a large scene I am working on and with 1 teapot!

No problem; the ActiveShade workflow in 3ds Max is a bit awkward and takes some time to get used to (I'm not really aware of anyone using this feature since it was introduced in 3dsmax 5 I think).

no surprise, but you are correct.

I wasn't aware it had changed when I switched to active shade settings. Sorry, I didn't notice. That solved that problem.

I hadn't used active shade before. Thanks vlado. Quick to solve the problem, as always.

You have probably set the resolution for the Production renderer, not for the ActiveShade renderer. Make sure you set the rendering mode to ActiveShade from the radio controls in the lower left corner of the 3ds Max Render setup dialog, then change the resolution to 320x240.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
