  • missing textures

Since I decided to store all textures locally to avoid problems with Vray, maxwell and fry, I have managed to keep the missing texture curse away. Everything always rendered fine . But now, I installed the RT and the slave machines report missing textures, although the same textures exist locally.
I know that max points the renderers to the bitmaps, but how can I point RT to find textures locally?

Are the local textures in the same location that the RT attempts to find them?

In any case, there is an environment variable, VRAY_ASSETS_PATH, which you can use to specify alternative locations for textures that will be searched if the original one cannot be found. There is some more info here: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/rt10....htm#resources

It is a bit awkward, and I had to change drive letters, as well as reinstall some applications to use the "same location" thing. But it is working.
I could not find the VRAY-ASSETS_PATH variable though, using vista 64bit. Maybe I did not understand well, do I have to create it myself?

You have to create it, yes; it is the same procedure as for the VFB history thing (My computer > Properties > Advanced system settings > Environment variables. I'll make a note to include a config program for this maybe in later builds.
