  • RT Demo DR limitation

I'm still playing with demo but I'm not able to run DR with two remote render servers
It works fine with 1 local server + 1 remote server
It works fine with 1 remote server but not more than 1

From the help file "DR is limited to two render servers - these can be either a local render server and one additional machine, or two remote render servers"

Maybe I'm missing some fundamental step?

    I'm on xp64 with max 2009
    server are xp32/vista 32
    vray sp3a

you will have to disable your local machine as active RT node !!

do you mean the checkbox inside the DR settings dialog? ...if yes, sorry, I forgot to mention about it, but it's already unchecked

It worked last time I checked it; does it work when you specify either of the machines (but only one)?

        Best regards,

just double checked, that's the behaviour:

1 remote server + auto start local slave CHECKED= 2+4 buckets
1 remote server + auto start local slave UNCHECKED = 2 buckets
2 remote server + auto start local slave UNCHECKED = 2 buckets (overlay warning DEMO limit) - my understanding is that this should work!!!
2 remote server + auto start local slave CHECKED= 2+4 buckets (overlay warning DEMO limit)

Each remote server works fine as far as it remains alone

          local is quad running xp64
          remote are dual running xp32

I can add that each server could respond efficiently only using IP instead of computername

Hm, V-Ray RT doesn't use buckets (at least not in the same way as the normal V-Ray and you won't be able to see them), so maybe I don't quite understand what's going on?

            Best regards,

I'm sorry for my messy infos, I've written buckets instead of cores.
I've 1 workstation quad core and 2 remote server dual core available; I've understood that RT could work different from standard DR, in particular it seems to me that it could leave the workstation free (excluded from DR), is that correct?

So I was simply trying to test it but the following are my results:

1 remote server + auto start local slave CHECKED = 2+4 cores
1 remote server + auto start local slave UNCHECKED = 2 cores
2 remote server + auto start local slave UNCHECKED = 2 cores (overlay warning DEMO limit) - my understanding is that this should work!!!
2 remote server + auto start local slave CHECKED = 2+4 cores (overlay warning DEMO limit) - that's correct because it exceeds the demo limits

When I'm talkin to cores I'm referencing to what I see from task manager.

I'm pretty sure that I'm missing something
