  • RT Networking/Server/license problems etc...

We have installed the software on 4 pcs and its only working on 1. Yesterday it was working on 3 of the 4 (Never tested it on the remaining one) but we think eveything was fine.

    One workstation says this....
    Error:render host xxxxxxxxxxxxx (127.0.0.1) disconnected
I have tried reinstalling a few times. but no joy

On the other two workstations I get this...
    "Waiting for image date"

We started getting these errors when we tried to get RTserver working...which we had no luck with.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Had this problem too.

I have two lan-cards installed, so I have two IPs on my workstation.

I had to type in the IP adress instead of the name of the slaves, then it worked for me...

    Best regards.

Did you register the V-Ray RT render server as a Windows service? (I am not saying you should do that, just asking.)

      Best regards,
      Vlado

Ok then. Any messages in the RT render servers on those machines? Did you specify them by machine name or IP address?

          Best regards,

            we did both.

But the network rendering problem is secondary to the fact that RT only works on 1 of our 4 pcs?

Ah, ok, sorry I did not understand. Are there any messages in the RT render server window? (When you start an ActiveShade session, you should see a command-line console window open with the RT render server).

              Best regards,
              Vlado

Ok, then; on those machines where you don't get the console window - can you try to start the render server manually from the Start menu > Chaos Group > V-Ray RT for 3ds Max > V-Ray RT render server and then re-open the ActiveShade window?

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado

                      Ah!

on the pc that reported this error.
                      One workstation says this....
                      Error:render host xxxxxxxxxxxxx (127.0.0.1) disconnected

I turned off (I didnt notice it was on) the render servers from the rendersettings and its now working fine... if I turn render servers back on it contunues to work, but only on the single machine.

Can you email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com with some more info about the configuration of these machines (CPU type, OS type, bitness etc)?

                          Best regards,
                          Vlado

                            I think we cracked it..

As soon as we stopped the "VrayRTSpawner" service it works.

ofcourse when we restart the pc, the service starts up again and we have to stop it manualy to use RT again

Oh, ok. This is an issue we will fix. However earlier in the thread you said you did not register the service?

                              Best regards,
                              Vlado
