  • V-RayRT Killing Remote Desktop?

I have a render farm of headless machines. I use my main workstation to control these machines using RealVNC and Remote Desktop. I have icons on my desktop to quickly connect the these machines and manage them or shut them down, etc.

I was doing some V-RayRT tests with DR... when done I reset MAX to go and do some other work.

I then immediately went to use my RealVNC connections to turn off the slave machines... I cannot now connect to any of the systems using RealVNC. I then tried connecting with the RDT connections and they too will not connect.

So the only thing I can do to turn these machines off is to hold the power button.

Is there some way to make V-RayRT NOT trash my remote connections?

    Thanks!
    Sincerely,

    Mike Truly

I tried re-booting the workstation machine and then using the connections to connect. Still it won't connect so it is something that is happening on the V-RayRT render server machines that is killing the connection.

Normally, all the connections us addresses like 'PC20' etc. but I even tried connecting using the IP addresses and it still won't connect.

    Thanks!

The V-Ray RT DR uses the same code as the regular V-Ray DR; if one works fine, so should the other. I've been running it regularly through remote desktop without any issues so far. Can you tell me which RealVNC version you are using so that I can test this here? Also, can you 'ping' the machines at all?

      Best regards,
      Vlado

        WAIT... sorry... falsely accusing V-RayRT!

I had just reset MAX and been using V-RayRT and thought it had killed the connections. Turns out it was a power failure in another part of the building! Sorry.

        Thanks!
