I sent an e-mail to support@chaosgroup yet, now I can post here my problem.
VrayRT is incompatible with indexed color space png files...( I have a lot of these files) while 3ds Max is compatible...and Vray too
On Max 2008 64 (test done on Vista 64) if apply an UVW mapping modifier I don't see any result...
I did the same test on Max 2010 and it works
On Max 2008 if you draw a teapot, apply a texture and then apply an UVW map modifier, you will not see any changes between cubic, spherical, planar projections etc...
If you add an editpoly modifier after the teapot and then add an uvw modifier you can see the changes only if you turn on ad off the editpoly switch. Only with this trick you can use the uvw map modifier with VrayRT on Max 2008
If you change the parameters of an object like cast shadows or the vray properties (right click mouse) you will not have a change in realtime, you have to slight move your object to have a refresh.
Generate GI and Receive GI work only with value 0 and 1
VrayRT doesn't render with alpha
In a VrayBlend material if you use a vraylight material as base material and in the first slot a coat material (e.g. a 100% reflective material) and you change the amount mix you will notice that the light will be always superimposed over the coat, in the slot you will have a 100% reflective sphere instead. If you swap the materials you will have the right mix.
You can't use VrayRT as primary render. I can say that VrayRT render engine produces better results than a mix of brute force+light cache or other Vray legacy combinations.
You can't set a timeout, If you leave your machine alone...for have your coffe, the render will continue infinitely consuming a lot of energy. VrayRT is not an energy saver
Translucency on vraymaterial doesn't work
VraySimbiontMTL doesn't work
Standard material + varymap doesn't work. Std material is only limited to diffuse parameter
Top/Bottom mtl doesn't work...very useful for terrains texturing
You can't check/uncheck the overall distribuite render...you have to select/unseletc manually each farm
Unrecoverable error message sometime happens doing a lot of modifications and changes on materials. VrayRT needs to restart Max...
By the way....VrayRT will change the way to do rendering. It's a beautiful piece of software...
The speed is good but not comparable now with Hypershot that produces the same results in less time..but is not integrated with max...
