  • An error occured during installation

I started to install Vray RT. It asked me if I wanted to uninstall the demo. Yes. That was fine but at the end of the installation I got an error. 'An error occured during installation'. Undo changes or carry on? Carrying on does install Vray RT and it seems to be running fine. I understand from reading a previous thread that Microsoft Visual Runtime is needed. I am having trouble understanding what I need for this.

When choosing which type of installation I presume it is normal to be able to only choose one installation. Full server. Same on all my slaves as well.

When it comes to reprogramming my dongle, 'To upgrade your licenses, click here' link is not there. I followed the re-install instructions, but again, same vrayrt installation error. I have the vray dongle plugged in. I cant run the Vray Licence server has it says only one is permitted. (dongle)

I have never had a previous version of Max installed. Just 2009

Any help would be appreciated. I would like to get going on soon this for production.

If you have 3ds Max itself installed, you don't need the Microsoft Runtime (3ds Max already installed it).

You can check what exactly failed in the installation if you view the install log window.

My guess is that you had the V-Ray license server running when you started the installation of the RT. In that case, simply close the V-Ray license server before running the V-Ray RT installer.

You can also write to vray@chaosgroup.com for further help.

Thanks a mill for your reply Vlado. I stopped the VRLService by removing the dongle and stopping the process. Vray RT then installed with no problems. I re-inserted the Dongle and was able to proceed with the reprogramming process.
