Grayscale image maps stop vray rt, Bug?

Reporting what I think is a bug.

I've noticed that Vray RT doesn't work with images that are 8bit Grayscale images.
Once I convert these images to RGB mode Vray RT works fine.

When i don't I get a message:
error: Render host <local machine name> (127.0.0.1) disconnected.

What file format are you using for these images?

I was trying to use .jpg
