  • license error -98

Hi! I have purchased VrayRT and reprogrammed the dongle, but after a restart the license information seems to be gone, I always get error -98 when I start the Active Shade Window. I did the licensing procedure twice now, but that didn't help. The status page of the dongle doesn't display the VrayRT-license info after a restart.

Another strange thing is, that I can't reach the dongle at "http://localhost:30304", but only at "http://127.0.0.1:30304" or "http://computersname:30304".

I use Vista 64 Bit on a Mac DualQuad.

    Thanks

    Tobi

Do you see any licenses for V-Ray RT on license server status web page?

Edit: I see you mentioned this already. Are you sure you are running the updated license server from the V-Ray RT installation? If you are still using the license server from the original V-Ray, it may not recognize the RT licenses.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Hi,

Hope you don't mind me butting in, but I'm having similar problems. V-Ray RT worked fine before, but now I'm getting the same -98 error saying it could not obtain a license. The license server status page shows our V-Ray Adv licenses but not the RT one

      All the best,

It might be that you are running the old version of the license server too; does it show the link for upgrading the licenses at the bottom of the web page?

        Best regards,
        Vlado

          Hi Vlado,

No, there's no license upgrade link at the bottom of the page. Does that mean I have the latest version?

          All the best,

Sorry for the late reply; not sure if you have figured it out by now, but in short, if the link is missing then this might be an older version of the server.

            Best regards,
            Vlado

Thanks Vlado, that was the problem. I uninstalled V-Ray Adv and RT on the computer with the license server, re-installed and all works fine again .

              Thanks again,

              Andy
