  • Vray RT SP1 install problem

    Hey guys,
I'm trying to install Vray RT SP1, I had been using max 2008 x64, Vray SP3, and RT 1.50.

I installed Vray SP4a, which went fine, but when I install RT, at the dialog where you choose install type, all options aside from Standalone render slave are greyed out and at the top it says "The installed version of V-Ray for 3ds Max 2008 for x64 is too old"

So the copy of sp4a I downloaded yesterday is too old?

edit: the USB dongle is on this workstation, and was reprogrammed for RT 1.50 awhile back.

Well, in a way I guess it's good to know it's not just me. Let me know if you find a solution, I've been too busy finishing up renderings to play around with it.

          I can't install it either.

Different problem though, install went through fine but now it just won't appear within my active shade options aymore...as if it wasn't there or there was no license...

No damn, I do have the EXACT same problem. Render slave only.

I just reinstalled SP4. If you are having the Render slave only problem, I had the same problem and this is what I did:

                1. start Max up and go to the render dialog box and select RT as your Activeshade Renderer
                2. at the bottom left of the Render dialog box select the ActiveShade radio button
                3. select the RT tab and select the Render Servers button
                4. select Add server and use 30304
                5. check Auto-start local slave

                Hope this helps.

Hmm. Problem is that I can't select RT as Active shade in the Render Dialogue. The Active shade window shows empty now.

Ok, so apparently the current version of Vray RT only works with Vray SP4. not SP4a.

Chaosgroup say, theĆ½ will upload an RT version soon for SP4a.

So Vray is not too old but too young for RT SP1..

                      Quote:

The RT version is meant to work with V-Ray SP4. That is why it does not recognize V-Ray 1.50SP4a.
The RT version on the website will be updated soon. Meanwhile we suggest the following workaround:

                      (*) install V-Ray 1.50SP4
                      (*) install V-Ray RT SP1
                      (*) install V-Ray 1.50SP4a

i'm getting the same error as the first post but I'm using sp4(not sp4-a).the error is "at the dialog where you choose install type, all options aside from Standalone render slave are greyed out and at the top it says "The installed version of V-Ray for 3ds Max 2009 for x86 is too old"
I initialy had sp4-a installed before seeing this thread,I've uninstalled a couple times but still get the same error..any ideas?

There is an updated installer for V-Ray RT on site now (V-Ray RT 1.5 SP1a) which solves this issue.

                          Best regards,
