  • Waiting for image data.....

When I launch RT in Max 2011 with SP5 the Active Shade window comes up and I get as far as"Waiting for image data..." and then it just sits there and does nothing. I know that it was working a few weeks ago but now it doesn't do anything, how to I get it working again?

It probably means that there are no render servers available to do the rendering. You can check the distributed rendering section to see if all the servers specified there are working. If you are using only your local machine, do you have a vray.exe process running (you can check the Task Manager)?

    Best regards,

That was it vray.exe wasn't running, is this supposed to run as a service or something because before this I never had to run this program in order to use RT?

I may have spoken too soon, I've run Vray.exe but nothing happens, what's strange is that when I add my render servers to the job RT will begin to work but if I want my workstation to render by it's self it just sits there.

Ok, if you check the "Auto-start local slave" option in the "Distributed rendering" section for the RT, is it on or off? If it is off, you need to manually add your machine to the list. If it is on, it will be added automatically.

Wow I feel stupid I had the auto start local slave unchecked, I guess because it was in the DR panel I assumed it was part of the DR setup I guess I need to learn to read better. Thanks Vlado!

Yes, I realize this is confusing, we will try to make it more logical.

hmmm, where do we bring this up? is this the vray dr spawner?
if so, when i open this i get a window that maximizes/minimizes real quick n all i can see is the window on Windows' taskbar saying "vraydummy2011.max - unregistered version" *scratches head*

i also got stuck on this "Waiting for image data..." msg..
then i remembered i should simply try it with a much smaller scene or a scene from scratch n it was all fine..
so im guessing there's somethin' about the scene im currently workin' on?

                edit:
i have also seen this a couple times: "[2010/Sep/7|22:26:32] warning: DR request received from 127.0.0.1, but currently busy with 0.0.0.0" - still after getting the error mentioned above..

Ok, do you have any PSD file textures in the scene? They cause the RT render server to crash (this is fixed for newer builds already).

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado
