  • Vray RT 2

    I thoughtthat this version of RT will display displacement. No? Also, apparently I can't have the Skylight override on. It gives me a "Unsupported: GI environment override" error message. I have two powerful machines, and it seems that in CPU mode RT is faster versus on a single GPU. Any thoughts?

    It will work if you use displacement in the material. Otherwise, actual render time displacement will be done for one of the next builds

    Works for me in CPU mode. It is not supported in GPU mode though.

    GPU performance depends on the power of the GPU card. An older and weaker GPU will certainly be slower than a very fast CPU.

      Vince, please keep in mind that GPU rendering is really still in it's infancy. As Vlado has mentioned, GPU speed really depends greatly on the number of cores and the core speed of the GPU card, and they vary wildly at the time. Some of the older boards barely render at all it seems.

      If you throw a newer GPU in your machines, say, like a GTX 560 or 580, I'm sure you will see much faster GPU rendering than CPU.

      Hope this helps clear things for you a bit.

        Hi Vlado, Can you explain how to make Displacement working in Vray RT ?
        I put a map on the displace slot of a Vraymaterial from a well UVW mapped mesh , but displace is not working in VrayRT CPU and GPU render.
        I've also try to add a VrayDisplacementMod with checking parameters .. but it's not work to .
