  • V-Ray RT - missing textures

What could be the problem when in normal DR all of the nodes render the textures just fine and in RT DR only one of the nodes actually render the textures and the rest don't?

The textures are stored on a network storage. The paths in the scene are all UNC.

    Using 3dsmax 2011, V-Ray 1.5 SP5 with V-Ray RT SP2.

Are you running the V-Ray RT spawner as a service, or manually? If it is a service, does it have proper access rights to the textures?

As a service. How can I check for access rights of the services?

Go to the control panel, administrative tools, services, find the V-Ray RT spawner service, right-click, select properties, go to the log on tab and make sure you enter the user name and password for a valid user on the machine that has access rights to the network location of the textures.

          Thank you! Problem solved.

It's strange though. All of the 5 tested nodes had "local system account" set on the log on tab. Yet out of 5 nodes, 1 was working fine, the other 4 weren't. Each node has only one user account which has no problems accesing textures (tested with standard DR). So using local account for services access rights should be fine. But in 4 cases wasn't. When I typed that local account manualy as you suggested it's all working. Is it a Windows glitch or some other networking setting?

It is hard to say... I'm not an expert at these things; I just know that setting a proper account for the service usually helps.

We were having problems with the DR at first, then after we removed them all as "services" and just manually added them to the "start-up" folder, they worked fine. Same with the RT Stuff, they weren't picking up the maps, soon as we removed the Service for RT and applied it manually it all worked fine.

just out of curiosity, why isn't .gif formats supported with RT?
              Cheers Vray! x
