  • animation with RT GPU as Production Renderer

    Hi,
    I made an animation with RT GPU as production renderer and it worked really fine. Now I have the problem that my customer asked me to change a small detail of an animated part of the machine.
    It would be very nice if I could render this part separate with a render region. Is there any possibility to fix that issue?

      when I look to my render times, especially when rendering animations I would think the future for rendering is GPU based. Do you think RT GPU will replace the "normal" vray renderer in a couple of years?
      Another question: When rendering interior scenes with RT, it is very time consuming to get a clear render compared to a scene without walls and ceiling, can you explain why?

        I don't think that GPU rendering will completely replace normal rendering. Some things are very impractical to do on a GPU. However I do think that you will be able to use the GPU in many cases.

        It's a more difficult lighting condition and the RT engine always uses brute force rendering, so it takes a lot of time to resolve the noise. The production renderer can use the irradiance map or the light cache to speed things up a lot. Also, in an interior scene, the coherency of the rays is lost as they bounce around and the GPU parallelism cannot be fully exploited causing a further slowdown.
