    Well there are 10 million triangles from what I see, so it might be that there is not enough RAM on the GPU. It's about 1 GB only for the acceleration structure, but then there are also vertex normals and texture coordinates to transfer to the GPU.

      ah haaaa

      intresting, all right, tha's the thing with proxys, you don't see that it's that much polygons actually.

      I will try hiding things, should that work the problem out? I guess it's the actual thing that are seen in the viewport that counts and not everything that lives in the file, isn't it?

        Yes, that should work. For the next build, instanced proxies are also going to be handled much more efficiently.
