  • XMLDRSpawner.exe has stopped working

    Hi,

Having issues with Vray RT for Rhino.

I am running the following (hopefully providing enough info):

    Rhino 5 64 Bit SR7
    Vray 2.0
ATI FirePro V7800 (Driver version 8.850.7.0 2/06/2011). I have also tried the latest drivers from the AMD website with the same result.

So just to be sure that it isn't my Vray settings, I tried this with a new scene and default settings.

I select GPU OpenCL. The 'Preparing global light manager..." moves to somewhere around 90%, then the DRSpanwer.exe fails.

I've attached a screenshot showing this.

Using CPU works, and strangely using CUDA works but I think then defaults to CPU.

    Any ideas???

this is the DRSpawner.exe failure detail..

After updating the driver to the latest non-beta one found on the AMD site (driver version 13.152.4.0), it seems to go further than before but still fails.

The chances of this working on AMD cards are pretty minimal - they seem to still have problems compiling the OpenCL code. Even if it works, it would have to be a 64-bit version of the V-Ray render server (not sure if V-Ray for Rhino includes a 32- or a 64-bit version).

      Best regards,
      Vlado

I am running 64 bit Rhino and Vray, all latest versions.

Pretty unfortunate that there's no support for AMD. I don't think their market share is *that* low for workstation graphics that it shouldn't happen at some stage.

It's nothing to do with market share, more with their inability to get this working for 2 years now - we've given them all the info and source code that they need, and they know they have issues - unfortunately they don't seem to know how to fix them.
