  • RT GPU crash : Error 719

    Hey guys,

Here is the scene that has been used to benchmark Lele's script and it turn out it's crashing in RT GPU with the error 719.

    http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...357#post649357

I did manage to render the first time but from the second render, I had the error popping.

    Here is the scene :

    3x GTX 970 on driver 344.16

    Nice!

I tried to clean the scene a bit to see if I can trace down what's causing the issue, but I ended up with a Christmas tree of errors :

And the scene in the exact state that creates that error :

Right, I think I found it.

There was a dome light that was called "dome_lower" and that made the whole thing crash.
It had a strange icon in the viewport (sphere for a domelight?).
I guess this scene was converted through a script to go from corona to Vray and it made the whole thing a bit dodgy.

By the way, non of the material icones where right with the scene I posted just before.
      Not sure why though.

      Hope this help.

      Cheers

It shouldn't crash in any case, so we'll look into it. Newer nightly builds have a built-in converter from Corona materials and lights when you use the Quad menu > V-Ray scene converter, maybe it will work better.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

I think it crashes because of the SSS material; still looking into it though.

It's definitely the SSS and should work fine without it. Will fix it though.

Here is some test of 2 x GTX980 vs 2 x Xeon E5-2680 @ 2.7 GHz for roughly the same render time.

Here is also one with the original engine on the same 2 x Xeon E5-2680 @ 2.7 GHz; this one was converted from the V-Ray scene, so the materials do not quite match. But the lighting is more or less the same.
