  • Auto update bitmaps with CUDA.

    Hey,

I wanted to preview maps that are getting updated with RT and auto update bitmaps does the trick on CPU, but it doesnt work on CUDA.

Is that known issue ? Fixable ?

    Best,
    Tomasz

It's probably fixable... will make a note to look into it.

      Great .

I've been playing with Substance Designer + RT and this little feature makes it very easy to preview shaders / maps directly in 3ds max and V-Ray. It's also great workflow, as substance has super nice procedural noises, masks, shaders. It bypasses the need for more procedural maps support in RT CUDA.

      Best regards,
      Tomasz

I've tested this at home, and CPU worked well. Now in the office on the latest nighly stable build it doesn't work on CPU and CUDA.

Which build did you have at work, and which - at home?

            Sorry for not including that.

            Build 833afc085a21 from May 25 2015, 16:35:01 at home.
            Build 25937 from Jun 24 2015, 10:10:13 at office.

            Best regards,
            Tomasz

After some tests, I came to this:

It happens with any build - if you assign the texture and then launch RT, any change to the image will be validated. But if you launch RT first and then assign the texture (or the whole textured material) while RT is running, the changes to the image will not appear. Can you confirm this behavior ?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Hi. I think there may be pattern like you've described. But no matter the order it doesn't work on CUDA. I checked that in home so far. Will test it out in the office as well tomorrow.

                Best regards,

Yes, "Auto update bitmaps" has never worked in RT GPU (will be fixed soon), I was talking about CPU.
