  • Limitation in size ?

    Hello
I suppose there is a limit for VRay RT GPU when rendering in Production mode ? 1500x1000 renders fine , when i switch to 3000x1998 - it just quits with "stopped responding". I assume it is memory limitation of my GPU ? GTX 770 with 2gb Ram , and i have texture resize set to 512.

We don't actually store the output image on the GPU, so GPU RAM should not be a problem. Which V-Ray version is this? Do you have any render elements?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Sorry , vray version is 3.20.02 , elements turned off - thought that's the reason also. 2500 rendered fine also , though 3000 - throws out.
Is there a software or something to monitor GPU memory load , just to see when it reaches the limit ?

Another random question: do you have any displacements in the scene?

          Best regards,
          Vlado

Sorry for confusion - there is displacement in scene - deleted those and will try to render without.
up : no luck , still throws out

Hi, I have done production renders at 5000x4000 in the same version of Vray RT, so resolution itself is not the problem. I did run into similar problems while using displacement as Vlado asks though. In that case I could only render in section, at lower resolution, or by turning down the max amounts of subdivisions (by alot). I'd try rendering the scene with displacement off to make sure that is or is not the problem.

Did you turn off all displacement maps? If so, I would still try to turn off displacement in the render settings as well. Otherwise I'd have no idea really. Not sure if Vray uses render resolution to calculate anything else. At what point does it says Not responding? Did you get the Vray Renderserver diag? And what was the last thing posted in it?

Will try turning off displacement at all.
Right after one texture being imported. Though on x2500 it renders fine.

here is screenshot of everything , https://www.dropbox.com/s/xkjcd1y8c6...21603.png?dl=0 turned off displacement in render dialog - did not help , tested again - at 2500 it is going perfect.
UP : not really perfect after 4 minutes render stops with "not enough memory" error at 2500

Ok, thanks; we would really need some way to reproduce this here though. Maybe remove stuff from the scene and see if it continues to break, and then send us that smaller scene?

                        Best regards,
                        Vlado

Hidden a lot of geometry and looks like this is really memory-related thing , now it renders on 3000 fine. Time to buy new Graphics card !
