  • RT active shade only shows red channel???

Very odd issue, whatever I do using Vray RT it renders my image red? It turns out that both the green and blue channels are empty when looking in the vray frame buffer. The alpha is there in all three channels.

Anyone has a clue what this could be about?

I seem to have other issues, may be hardware related so unless someone recognizes this I will investigate further.

So this relates to the material being unsupported, oddly enough I can't remember seeing it this way before. All unsupported materials turns up red, they only render in the red channel.

Partly the problem here is that I typically don't use RT Active shade like this, so I didn't realize it doesn't support the Autodesk materials. I've been playing around with Corona a bit and got used to the active shade working very transparently so I guess I got complacent and assumed Vray RT had caught up.

Is the Vray scene converter still being updated? It doesn't give an error message or any indication that it really didn't do anything. The model comes from Revit and as far as I can see none of the materials were converted, which in turn RT choked upon.

        Hello,

Rendering only red is not something we currently do on purpose with unsupported materials. If you could share a (part of a) scene that does that - it would be interesting to see what is going on.

Not much to share, all basic Autodesk materials in a scene from Revit. All unsupported in RT I guess.

No, they are not supported. Does it look better with VRayMtl materials?

Yes, that works. However, that means all materials coming in from Revit, that works with the regular Vray renderer, needs to be replaced in order to use Activeshade with RT. Inconvenient to say the least.

I think for consistency the Vray scene converter should put the scene in such a state that both ADV and RT works, don't you agree? Now it leaves all the Autodesk materials unchanged as they work with ADV.

And while discussing the converter, I think it would be great if it also could convert Corona scenes the way they can convert Vray.

The V-Ray scene converter script does that already, but I'm not sure if it's updated to work with the latest version.
