  • Error while initializing vray RT

    Hi,

I've just installed my new workstation. This is the setup:
    MB: Z10PE-D16 WS
    CPU: 2x Xeon
    GPU: 2x GTX 1080
    1x Tesla K20

First of all I've got the problem where I get a bunch of unhandled exceptions.
The second problem is that my tesla k20 isn't showing up as available gpu renderer.
A couple of times before the k20 did came up as available renderer...

    Any advice here?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,

Looking at the logs seems like there is some issue with the GPU rendering - devices fail to initialize properly and then there are all those exceptions.
First of all - what is your V-Ray version ?
One thing you can try is to disable the "In-process RT engine" option to see if there is any difference ?

The scene seems like a very simple one and probably the problem is not in it but could you attach it here just in case ?

    Best regards,

      Hi Yavor,

Thank you for the reply, that fixed my problem. Thank you for the advice.
Also my K20, which is properly installed and is working doesn't show up as possible device for RT

Does it show if you start the standalone tool "Select OpenCL devices for V-Ray RT GPU" installed with V-Ray (ocldeviceselect.exe in Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\RT for 3ds Max 2016 for x64\bin) ?

Could you try running the tool as administrator ?
Internally it modifies an environment variable and then the V-Ray standalone reads it to get which devices to use. In the output window it writes that it failed to set this variable so you don't see any changes.

              Hi,

I just ran the tool as admin, and checked all the gpu's but when I close and open again, nothing seems to have changed.
I get the following dialog again:
