  • Production max ray depth using IPR settings - vray_adv_35501_maya2016_x64_27132

I've been banging on a CUDA workflow quite a bit over the past few days, getting a feel for the pros and cons of gpu rendering in production as I'm looking at adding more gpus to the farm rather than cpus. I noticed in a recent nightly build, vray_adv_35501_maya2016_x64_27132, that the max ray depth in the CUDA production renderer seems to be taking its value from the IPR tab. I believe there was a note and a fix about the same thing happening with GI depth. Can you guys check and confirm that the same issue is happening with max ray depth. It doesn't seem to be an issue in the cpu progressive production renderer, only in CUDA mode.

    Hi,

It's completely confirmed by my test here. Reflect/refract Trace depth value is taken from the IPR tab instead of the Overrides/Materials/Global max depth.
I will make a note about that in our system. Thanks!
