  • RT, 3.5 beta 3, latlong and stereo

    I don't understand why the poles of my latlong image are not matching, I though that pole merging was supposed to do that?
    does the realtime viewer warp everything later on?

    I am currently working on an MTV in VR but I am located in Singapore and the production with the VR headset is in NY... not the most convenient!

    Also, the image is not ending at 100%, I had to manually stop it at 103% and counting....

    It does seem somewhat strange; let me ask someone to look into it.

    Best regards,

      I did a render with adv. and it looks ok.
      The render is vastly different than RT though and I had to adjust a lot the lights and the volume shading.
      Is there any plan to have the Phoenix tools work with gpu? I moved to all to gpu and it is frustrating to not be able to use my 4 titanXp...

          The difference occurs since VRay RT uses focus method = Rotation by default, while VRayStereoscopic default is focus method = None.

          There are two ways to solve the problem - you could switch VRay RT to "None" using maxscript:
          renderers.current.stereo_focus=0

          Alternatively you could set camera target distance to a larger value. Stereoscopic zero-parallax distance is obtained from camera target distance. If this distance is too small then distant objects are separated too much, resulting in a painful cross-eye effect.

            it makes a lot of sense.
            The default should probably be set to None though...

            Thank you
