  • Vray RT Render sequence randomly failing after "clearing color mapper"

    Hi,

We're having issues rendering image sequences using Vray RT (3.5, yesterdays Nightly build) for max 2016. It is failing on random frames: we have monitored temps, ram usage etc and all is fine.

Looking at the log files after each error the last action each time is "clearing color mapper" and the vray message window shows: [VrayRTMax: renderThreadProc] Exeption occured in rendering thread

    System info:
    - Nvidia driver - 378.66, cleaned old drivers first using DDU & deselected all other options at install
    - Plugins: railclone, forestpack, multitexture, Animators Tooolkit (ATK)
    - 5 x titan x (maxwell) - max load temps recorded at 48 degrees & memory usage peaks at 11881mb (with monitor) between frames and avg 8879mb (error thrown mid frame on last test)
    - X99 E-WS, 5960X, 64 GB DDR4 ram (memtest fine) - all drivers up to date
    - Windows 8.1 pro x64

Any ideas on what we can do to quickly fix the issue, we're pressed to get this job rendered asap.

    Cheers

    Hi,

    1. I need a scene for this.
    2. Have you tried going back to the official 3.50.03 ?
    3. Why are you using nightlies when there are circumstances like "we're pressed to get this job rendered asap" ?
If it was that easy, it would have already been done

Hi Peter, we moved over to the nightlies yesterday as the current official build doesn't support ies files for in process RT.

I have sent a copy of the scene file over to the support team using the follow support ticket: [#783686]

      Cheers Luke

        Ouch. Sorry about that

You can try the stable nightlies, the fix for the IES crash is there.

Oh, I didn't spot that. I'll download it now and update you asap.

          Cheers Peter!

I mis-read this, we are already on the stable nightlies.

            Cheers

Did you manage to find the file that I sent over?

No, I didn't see it in the tickets. Can you send it to me directly - peter.matanov@chaosgroup.com ?

Just sending now. Also, just realised that if we set say 2 frames to render, upon completion the same error is thrown. Might speed up your testing?
