VRAY RT not rendering physical materials - whut?

We have not put a lot of effort in the support for the Physical material. I wouldn't recommend it for the production renderer either, as it is not properly optimized yet and may lead to longer render times. It would be better to use V-Ray materials.

Ahh right.
That's a pity.
Is there any way then - and I have been asking for this for a while - that you could populate the material editor with some basic preset Vray materials. It's annoying when you are quickly mocking things up and you have to manually switch over to Vraymats when you just want to dump some basic pants and chrome and glass into scenes.
Can that not just happen when you switch renderers to Vray?

Well, I guess the first thing you might not want is to necessarily include any maps as you're asking for trouble down the line with missing maps etc.
But I think at least chrome material, a glass material, some basic paints, some mid greys - shiny stuff, matte etc. just some stuff so you can start throwing some materials down as you're building up a new scene - checking reflections and tonality etc.
Does that make sense?
I mean, I really like the old arch-viz shader and the way the physical shaders have some defaults in them - it really helps you to get started - and starting things is often the most fiddly time when you're trying to make sure everything organised correctly, but you also just want to get moving whole you have momentum.http://www.jd3d.co.uk - Vray Mentor
