  • Support for pre-calculated Irradiance Map in Vray Next GPU?

There is no more support in NextGPU for pre-calculated irradiance map GI. This feature saved a lot of time when used for simple camera fly-throughs. Dont understand why its out and would love to see it back.

How much faster does it made the animations for you?

The support is still in the engine, but we have removed it from the UI. Not many people used it and it wasn't easy to setup. Results were not as predictable as with brute force and light cache.

I think that if you want to use it, you still can enable it with Max Script (I'm not sure though, will double check). I will ask some of the Max guys to set up the script and update you here. It will be at your own risk though, as we don't support it officialy anymore.

I've just checked. Unfortunately, due to major changes in the code, it won't be possible to use pre-calculated IM even through maxscript in V-Ray GPU Next.
If it was that easy, it would have already been done
