  • Minor request to post more RT Core updats

I loved your guys blog about utilizing the RT cores in early test benchmarks back in October. My wish wish is can you guys keep posting more frequent updates and tests to see what kind of progress you are making? You guys are the only ones pushing the envelope when it comes to utilizing the RT cores at the moment so it's exciting to see the performance gains with this new tech. Additionally, I know it's waaaaay too early for making assessments but any idea how long before you have RT Cores in your nightlies and eventually in the final version?

Also, could use some clarification with those tests you did in October. Specifically:

    • what version of V-Ray was being used at the time
    • what was the CPU used during those tests
    • whether it was progressive or bucket rendering
    • was hybrid rendering used or just the gpu's itself

I know I'm leaving something else out, but if there's any other info that would be pertinent to my questions above, feel free to share them.

    Thanks!

We'll definitely keep you posted as soon as there is more clarity on RT core support. For the moment it's mostly waiting on NVidia to fix stuff in the drivers.

    In regards to your questions:
*) I didn't use hybrid rendering; only GPU(s) were used.
    *) Progressive rendering was used
*) The CPU was a Threadripper 2990WX (no specific reason for it, just it's what I had in my workstation)
*) The V-Ray version was a nightly build from around the time of the blog post creation

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
