    this is the easiest way to do decent planetary atmosphere on VRay GPU. If you have better ideas I'm all ears.
    it's just something CPU is better suited for.

      Currently I'm just faking it. It at least renders relatively quick. Using something like a volume grid to get subpar results isn't worth the render time.

      In the same vein though, it's crazy that I have to use alSurface to do the clouds. The other SSS implementations don't work well with opacity maps.
