  • Wish: simple switch between denoiser engines

    Hi,

please allow to easy switch between denoiser methods.

For example I render a scene and get fire flies. The V-Ray denoiser create nice results for fine detailed textures like cloth, but fire flies are not removed and marked with squares instead. I found that it helps to switch to the Intel denoiser and start a tiny region render to get the whole image denoised by the Intel denoiser. The intel denoiser removes the fire flies, but to much blurs anything. But the Intel denoiser result can be used to fix the marked fire flies of the V-Ray denoiser pass. So, it would be great to get an easy way to get both denoiser passes done.

Sidenote The Invidia denoiser is a nice denoiser, but isn't 360° seam aware for pano renderings.

    Hi Micha,

This is already possible in other plugins, as the denoiser is just a render element. You could add 3 denoiser elements each one uses a different denoiser
I will talk to the Rhino team about it, this shouldn't be hard to do

Could you please share a screenshot? this is a bug most likely
I will make sure it gets fixed ASAP

    Thank you!

      Hi Muhammed_Hamed,

sounds great to have the possibility to add more than one denoiser element. I'm curious to see it at VfR.

The seam issue can be seen, if you render a panorama and use the Nvidia denoiser. Later, the image shown per pano viewer shows a line at the connected edges. The edge looks like at this screenshot. The other denoiser doesn't show this effect.

I'm very curious to get the fire flies fixed for the RTX mode. I hope it can be avoided like for the Cuda mode. Unfortunately I can't switch to CUDA for my current project, since there is a polygon or object count limit which cause that the scene isn't rendered with all objects.

        Thanks for the screenshot Micha

I will investigate and report back here.

I just read your post about the RTX mode fireflies, I will do some tests and talk to our devs
