  • Wish: short way to the latest recommended driver

    Hi,

could it be possible to get a button like "latest driver" and the user jump from the V-Ray plugin to the right Nvidia web page?

Agreed. Having to navigate through Chaos's website and google it etc is a pain in the arse. There's absolutely no reason they can't paste the URL in the information panel and or in the logs if it's a warning.

Hi, thank for posting. This sounds like a good idea to me personally. We will discuss it and get back to the thread.

In 3ds Max, you could make a button out of this MaxScript line:
        Code:
        ShellLaunch @"https://www.chaos.com/vray-gpu" ""
Create a new toolbar and drag-n-drop the code from the Scripting Listener to the toolbar, Max will then create a .ms file (saved in the ENU folder under usermacros) out of it.

And at the latest on the GPU web page there should be a direct link to nVidia.

this seemed like a pretty easy update - just paste a URL in the error log.

Is there an obstacle to getting this done?

Thanks for the feedback Micha JD3D_CGI
I will see if we can have something in the log, and get back to you

There are different drivers for Quadros/Geforce, and different drivers for operating systems Windows 10 and 11 and Linux
We will have to check the hardware in the system to be able to recommend a correct link, and we will have to maintain the links to make sure they are working. It is a lot of effort on my side and to implement in the log

I posted the links on the forums here and on the support portal here
Would it be ok to link to the support portal article in the log, to avoid having multiple links depending on the hardware in the system?

              Best,
              Muhammed

Thanks for following this up and for asking the question.

Yes, it seems right to link to the support portal page - especially since that page is dated with it's last update.

And it means Chaos only need to update one thing - seems to make sense

This is now working in our internal builds, there will be a link in the log to the recommended driver installation page
