vray.exe - CPU affinity, like in the older versions of RT.

hi!

I noticed that in the latest version of vray-rt we are unable to set cpu affinity for vray.exe. Previously, if I wanted to unload the worstation's cpu when using RT I could just set the processes affinity to less cores (let's say 2 of 4) - which was enough since I'm also using DR for RT.
now, for some reason, I get 'acces denied' when trying to access the CPU list under SET AFFINITY for the process, and there is no way to use less cores for vray.exe on the workstation.

pretty please - bring back the option to set the affinity for the vray.exe process.
and if not - why?

This works as before, nothing is changed. However it could be that vray.exe is running as a service under a different account and your user does not have permissions to change its affinity.

Thanks Vlado, it looks like the process runs under SYSTEM.
I have no idea why this happened, since I installed the update to RT
Is there a way to force vray.exe to be executed under my user account?
btw - we're talking about XP.

You can set the user account under which the service runs, if you go to the Services applet in the Control Panel, right-click on the V-Ray RT spawner service, select Properties, go to the Log On tab and select a user account instead of the default one.

Any idea why the service was running under the SYSTEM account?
I installed the update just like any other, under my local account, without any problems.

BTW - perhaps it's a good idea to move the thread to RT:PROBLEMS section, since the feature discussed is present in RT, but somehow didn't work properly.

Any service, when registered, by default runs under a system account, unless the user manually changes it. It cannot be done automatically as the installer cannot find out your user password, for example.

but when I installed RT for the first time, I had no problems with setting the affinity for the vray.exe process - which would mean that it by default was running under my account, not system account.
unless there's something I don't understand, then please enlighten me - for future reference
