  • Material override - exclude list from vray's global override

    Hi!

Is there a possibility fot the 'override exclude' list to be automatically connected to the list in vray's global material override exclude/include?
Now we either have all models in the scene overrided with single material (since the global override exclude list is not taken into consideration), or have to manually select the objects in RT's override exclude list - which can be pretty tedious with hundreds of objects in the scene...
This is something that's been pretty annoying for me for quite some time, and I've been wondering why it's not implemented.
the purpose of a ninja is to flip out and kill people.
the purpose of an architect is to flip out and design for people.

V-Ray RT should respect the override material for the production V-Ray too (in addition to its own list) - if you are not seeing this, can you get me a scene to vlado@chaosgroup.com?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

unfortunatelly it doesn't, and it's the same in every scene.

just did a small test - RT doesn't recognize the exclusion list from production vray, tried couple iterations of the list and it's the same.
each time it's either total override, or no override at all (when it's turned off in production).
to exclude the objects from material override in RT, I have to manually set the override list in RT.

      my setup:
      xp, max 2008, 1.5 sp5, RT sp2
the purpose of a ninja is to flip out and kill people.
the purpose of an architect is to flip out and design for people.

I'm still having problems with override in RT 1.9 (CPU). If the production render override is enable I get total override in the RT preview, regardless of whether RT override is checked or not. Oddly, it seems to kind of use the exception list, as items in this list get slightly different shading than the others (although they're not using their normal material). The exclude list of the production render seems to have no effect at all. If I disable the production render overrides then the RT overrrides function correctly.

Can you get me a scene for this to vlado@chaosgroup.com so that we can check what's wrong?

Update: I never did get a test scene to vlado but after a reinstall/update with Vray 2.0 (beta 2) everything seems to be working OK.
