Well yes, I use it, but some people where speaking about a new script that would use some of the new options of sp2. Like stopping the render when the amount of noise is achieved, frame range, etc. If i'm not wrong.
Here is the new script. Place in the [maxroot]\scripts\startup folder. Then you will get a new macroscript in the "VRay" category called "Render an animation preview with V-Ray RT". You can drag the script to any toolbar or menu.
When you start the script, you will get a dialog with some options (start/end frame, output file name, render time limit, noise threshold). After you set them, press the "Start Preview Render" button to write the animation sequence. If the ActiveShade renderer is not started, the script will start it automatically (but it will not close it automatically at the end).
A few notes:
*) The script window is modal - which means that it will block the 3ds Max interface, until the rendering is complete or you press the Cancel button;
*) V-Ray RT must be selected as the current ActiveShade renderer;
*) The script needs V-Ray RT SP2; it will not work with older versions (it uses a MaxScript callback that we added when the frame is complete);
*) The script is not very well tested and there may be issues - please let us know if you find any!
This script sound wonderful.
The only thing I find sad is that when you lunch a sequence with the script, it has to close the current RT window and start the process of loading VrayRT all over again.
I'm currently in a very heavy scene and it takes about 7-8 minutes to launch RT.
I have 9 camera moves to do, and I would love to have to load only 1 time RT to render sequences.
Is there a way to bye pass that ?
Anyway, Thanks a lot for you script Vlado, this will help a lot for fast preview in the future!
