  • having a fast GPU switch ON/OFF

    Hello,

I have 4 gforce 580 on my workstation.
I use all of them to render.
It's could be nice to not use the CG card wich show me 3DSMAX viewport when i'm in active shade mode to continue to work in real time.
And activate again this card to render when i switch to production render .

So, at this time, we need to play with select OpenCL devices for vray rt utility and turn restarting services .
it's taking time and it's not so friendly .

having different openCL device configuration for Active Shade and Production render could be nice.
But a better nice idea is to have some case to check in render parameters to choose on the fly wich card we want to make it rendering.

i think is something possible, because we can choose on the fly wich card contribute or not in Arion . And this is really friendly .

It is certainly possible; I guess the initial idea was that users won't change this option very often. At the very least, I guess we can make the V-Ray RT render server pick up changes to the number of devices automatically so you don't need to restart the service.

    Best regards,

yes i understand why it's build like that.

But in dayly work, it's different .
At a minutes, i want the full power of the 4 card to look at my materials lights ... and having estimating the rendertime of my animation.
but the other minute, i want to move some mesh in my scene to change the way reflections are, and it's easier to move a mesh if the CG card wich do the 3DSMAX viewport do not participate to VRAY RT GPU .

So, i would like to swich very often .

And it's making think about 2 new buttons on the menu toolbar.
1 wich start RT render with all GPU, and the other without the GPU wich work for the 3DSMAX viewport .

or 2 short keys , shift Q to start rendering with all CG card, and Ctrl Shift Q to render with the 3DSMAX viewport cg card .
